Bengaluru engineer says he left ₹85 lakh job for travel content

Saksham Raj Seth said he left an ₹85 lakh-a-year software engineering job in August to work full time as a travel content creator.

The Bengaluru-based creator said work had increasingly taken over his time despite the salary. He and his partner, Smriti Sidana, had already been making travel content together and decided to see whether it could become a long-term career.

Sidana said she remains a software engineer, earning around ₹1.5 lakh a month, while creating travel and lifestyle content part time. Seth said his income from content is currently far below what he earned in software.

The couple said the shift has brought no fixed salary, guaranteed growth or defined career path. Their work now includes shooting, editing, planning, pitching to brands and negotiating collaborations while travelling.

They are experimenting with longer stays in places as they try to build a routine around work, finances and personal time.
