Bengaluru tech worker says AI tools have expanded, not eased, her workload

Rupali Tiwari, a Bengaluru tech worker, says AI tools have made parts of her job easier while increasing the volume of work expected of her.

In an Instagram video, Tiwari said managers and team leads now assume employees can take on substantially more work because AI can assist with tasks. “Where you used to get 5 tasks, you are now getting 20 to 25 tasks,” she said. She added that, when output is assessed on the assumption that AI is doing much of the work, “nothing is enough.”

Tiwari said she had initially worried that AI could replace jobs, but that the immediate change in her experience was higher delivery expectations. She also described a software engineer friend at a large company whom she said was working across 10 projects and handling coding, review and deployment.

Other users commenting on the post said they recognised the pressure of higher productivity expectations after AI tools were introduced. GTK could not independently verify the workplace practices described in the video.

Tiwari asked whether employees at other companies were having similar experiences.
