Bengaluru plans single online platform for TDR applications and trading

Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has directed officials to digitise the Transferable Development Rights system from application to final use.

Bengaluru plans a single online TDR platform to let landowners track applications and help agencies acquire land for road projects.

Landowners giving up property for Bengaluru road projects may soon be able to track their Transferable Development Rights (TDR) applications online rather than rely on physical files and intermediaries.

Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has directed Greater Bengaluru Development Authority officials to move the full TDR process to a single digital platform.

TDR is used to compensate landowners when land is needed for road widening and other infrastructure work. Gowda said delays in the current process have reduced its usefulness for land acquisition. He also cited limited tracking and transparency in a system that relies heavily on physical records.

The proposed platform would allow applicants to check an application’s progress at each stage. It is planned to cover applications, property and road details, verification, scrutiny, certificate issuance, TDR certificate transactions and final utilisation.
