Delhi border teams check vehicles during Monday rush

At Kalindi Kunj and other Delhi entry points, enforcement teams used red-light stops to check vehicles while managing peak-hour traffic.

Delhi border teams checked non-BS-VI vehicles from other states during Monday’s rush. At Mayur Vihar, about 40 vehicles were turned back by noon.

Wasim’s tractor stood out in traffic at the Kalindi Kunj border. Personnel stopped it and turned it back during the Monday morning rush as teams enforced Delhi’s vehicle-entry restrictions.

Non-BS-VI vehicles from other states are barred from entering Delhi. At Kalindi Kunj, traffic police and transport department personnel often had only the duration of a red signal to check registration numbers before vehicles from Noida began moving again.

At Mayur Vihar, teams had turned back around 40 vehicles by noon. They reduced checks after 9.30am as traffic built up. Barricades also slowed vehicles at the Gurgaon border, while teams at Ghazipur faced the same constraint: stopping one vehicle could hold up those behind it.

PUCC checks are running alongside the entry restrictions. Delhi Traffic Police issued more than 4.4 lakh challans for PUCC violations between January 1 and October 20, including 3.4 lakh involving two-wheelers. About 500 petrol pumps have cameras, scanners and announcement systems for the ‘No PUCC, No Fuel’ rule, though equipment and staffing gaps have affected enforcement at some outlets.
