Bengaluru’s draft voter roll set to list 56.11 lakh electors

Bengaluru’s draft voter roll is due to list 56.11 lakh electors on August 24, compared with more than 1.03 crore in the existing roll.

The Special Intensive Revision follows an enumeration stage. Across Karnataka, more than 1.07 crore voters, or 19.48% of the electorate, have been categorised as absent, shifted, duplicate, deceased or under other categories in the draft and marked for deletion.

The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has identified more than 20.35 lakh voters with logical discrepancies. Another 23.45 lakh voters have not been mapped to 2002 electoral-roll details. The office said these voters will receive notices and be heard during the claims-and-objections process, which runs from August 24 to October 22.

Residents can use Form 6 to seek inclusion, Form 6A for overseas voters, Form 7 to request deletion, and Form 8 to correct names, addresses or other EPIC details. Claims and objections can be filed until September 23. The final electoral roll is scheduled for October 27.
