Restaurants and hotels across Bengaluru are pricing Onam Sadhya meals from simpler banana-leaf spreads to premium multi-course offerings.
Onam Sadhya meals in Bengaluru are being offered at roughly ₹649–₹899 at some venues, while premium restaurant and hotel versions can cost ₹1,500–₹2,000 or more. Diners have questioned whether the higher prices and fixed meal slots fit the communal, unhurried tradition of the festive feast.
A Bengaluru diner can find an Onam Sadhya for about ₹649, or spend more than ₹2,000 on a premium version of the same festive meal.
This year’s menus span roughly ₹649–₹899 for simpler offerings, with elaborate spreads at hotels and restaurants priced from ₹1,500 to ₹2,000 or higher. The costlier meals may add more courses, desserts and a more formal dining experience.
Traditionally served on a banana leaf, a Sadhya brings together rice, vegetable curries, pickles, payasam and other dishes for the Onam harvest festival. It is designed as a generous shared meal rather than a quick restaurant sitting.
That contrast is driving conversation among diners, including comparisons with Kerala Sadhyas priced around ₹200–₹300. Some have also objected to venues assigning fixed dining slots of one to one-and-a-half hours, saying the format can feel rushed at the higher end of the price range.
