Mumbai: Benny Dayal urges support for Indian acts at Lollapalooza 2027

Benny Dayal urged listeners to support Indian performers after Lollapalooza India 2027 announced its lineup, asking: “What about the Indian acts?”

The festival’s fifth edition is scheduled for January 23 and 24 at Mahalaxmi Racecourse. Olivia Dean and Limp Bizkit are set to headline the Mumbai dates, while KATSEYE, Fontaines D.C., 5 Seconds of Summer, St. Vincent and Steve Angello are also on the international lineup.

Reaction online has varied. Some listeners compared the selection unfavourably with earlier editions, while others welcomed it. Bass player Shreyas Aakarshan said he booked tickets after seeing Scribe and Limp Bizkit on the lineup.

Dayal asked listeners to seek out, stream and watch the Indian performers on the bill, saying the festival offers them a chance to reach a larger audience. Musician Lisa Mishra said audiences should not carry that responsibility alone, arguing that promoters should give Indian artists more visible billing alongside foreign acts.
