Bhuvan Bam says police questioned him at Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar

Bhuvan Bam said police briefly questioned him during a shopping trip with his mother to Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar after people gathered around him.

Speaking at the Global GenZ Summit, the creator said officers suspected him of pickpocketing and took hold of his collar. He said his long hair and bandana may have contributed to the misunderstanding.

“I had very long hair and used to walk around wearing a bandana,” he said. Bam said he told the officers he had not stolen anything and showed them videos from BB Ki Vines.

People in the crowd continued calling out his name, Bam said, and the officers then allowed him to leave. He said his mother, initially confused by the gathering, saw the scale of his early online following during the outing.

Bam said he had asked his parents for two years to let him pursue YouTube rather than take a conventional job. BB Ki Vines later reached about 600,000 subscribers, he said.
