Bidadi township protesters invited for Vidhana Soudha talks

After more than 540 days at Bairamangala Circle, farmers opposing the Bidadi Township project took their protest to Freedom Park and said they would lay siege to Vidhana Soudha.

The Chief Minister’s Office has invited 25 representatives to meet D.K. Shivakumar at Vidhana Soudha. The delegation is expected to include farmer leaders Badagalapura Nagendra and Chukki Nanjundaswamy, Melukote MLA Darshan Puttannaiah, and farmers from nine villages where land is proposed for acquisition.

The protesters want the Bidadi Township project to be dropped and the land-acquisition process halted after the final notification was issued.

If the government proceeds with a committee-led survey, the farmers want the panel to include representatives from different fields. The meeting follows the Freedom Park protest.
