Bengaluru: two-wheelers remain on KIA, Electronics City elevated roads

Two-wheelers can continue using the Kempegowda International Airport elevated road after the government paused a ban that had taken effect on September 4.

Priyank Kharge said diverting goods vehicles, two-wheelers and autorickshaws together to service roads at entry points had created traffic conflicts, queues and congestion.

Existing time-based restrictions on goods vehicles will remain during morning and evening peak hours on the Airport Road elevated corridor. Bengaluru Traffic Police has asked riders to use the left lane, follow lane discipline, avoid risky overtaking and stay within the 60 kmph speed limit.

On the Electronics City Elevated Corridor, where restrictions were due to begin on September 11, the first phase will apply only to goods vehicles. Two-wheelers will remain permitted for now.

Bengaluru Traffic Police will monitor traffic flow, road safety, enforcement at entry points and conditions on adjoining surface roads before deciding on further restrictions.
