Bipasha Basu begins filming Hansal Mehta’s ‘Barabanki’ in Mumbai

Bipasha Basu has begun filming in Mumbai for *Barabanki*, a crime-thriller series directed by Hansal Mehta and set in 1984.

The series is adapted from retired IPS officer Aloke Lal’s book, *The Barabanki Narcos: Busting India’s Most Notorious Drug Cartel*. The book recounts an operation led by Lal against the opium trade in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district and the police personnel and informers involved in the campaign.

Sunny Kaushal and Vishal Jethwa also feature in the series. Details of their characters, along with Basu’s role, have not been made public.

The project is Basu’s first screen work since the 2020 thriller *Dangerous* and her first collaboration with Mehta. Her last feature film, *Alone*, was released in 2015. Prabhleen Kaur is co-producing the series.
