BMC proposes ₹4.23 crore upgrade for Bandra West’s Patwardhan Park

Raosaheb Patwardhan Park on Linking Road in Bandra West could receive a ₹4.23 crore upgrade if the BMC Standing Committee clears a proposal due before it on Wednesday.

The nearly 15,000-square-metre park would get a rebuilt main entrance, children’s play equipment, open-air exercise equipment, benches, information boards and landscaping. The plan also covers repairs to toilets, stairs, the yoga shed, security room, protective wall and existing footpaths, as well as a new cobblestone path and repairs to the mud track.

The BMC’s H-West ward has proposed removing a dilapidated RCC bridge inside the park. The ward said the bridge and other facilities need repairs.

Local corporator Swapna Mhatre said residents had sought improvements to pathways, the drainage system, jogging area, seating, gym equipment, washrooms and water tank. The civic Garden Cell floated the tender, and H H Associates submitted the lowest bid, at 34.66% below the official estimate.

The BMC had earlier considered an underground parking facility at the park but shelved the proposal after residents opposed it.
