Bombay High Court orders CBI FIR and probe into Disha Salian’s 2020 death

Disha Salian’s death in Malad on June 8, 2020 will now be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation after an order from the Bombay High Court.

The court directed the CBI to register an FIR, appoint an investigating officer and record the statement of Salian’s father, Satish Salian. He had sought a fresh probe, alleging lapses in the earlier Mumbai Police investigation and foul play.

Salian, a celebrity manager who had worked with Sushant Singh Rajput, died after falling from a high-rise building in Malad. Mumbai Police had registered an Accidental Death Report and previously maintained there was no established link between her death and Rajput’s death six days later.

The High Court has asked the CBI to examine the circumstances of Salian’s death. If the agency finds that a cognisable offence was committed, it must file a chargesheet; otherwise, it must submit a closure report.
