Cab driver arrested after woman alleges harassment at Sector 29 charging station
Gurugram police arrested a 34-year-old cab driver after a woman driver alleged he harassed her while she charged her electric cab in Sector 29.
The incident allegedly occurred around 2am on Wednesday at a charging station in Sector 29. Police registered an FIR on Thursday and arrested the suspect later that evening from DLF Phase III.
A woman cab driver from Delhi alleged that a fellow driver sexually harassed her while she was charging her electric cab at a Sector 29 station in Gurugram early Wednesday.
Police said the woman stopped at the station around 2am when the man, seated in a cab parked beside hers, allegedly played an obscene video on his phone with its screen turned towards her. She also alleged that he repeatedly looked in her direction.
The woman recorded a video on her phone, police said. She told officers that she had raised the matter with charging-station employees at the time.
Following her complaint at DLF police station on Thursday, police registered an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions dealing with sexual harassment and acts intended to insult a woman’s modesty. The 34-year-old suspect was arrested from the DLF Phase III area on Thursday evening.
