Bengaluru: Megha, Panchatantra at Chowdiah Memorial Hall

Megha, the Carnatic-jazz ensemble founded in 1991 by veena artiste Dr Suma Sudhindra and guitarist Gerard Machado, will perform at Chowdiah Memorial Hall on Sunday, September 20.

The concert opens the 18th AIM Bengaluru International Arts Festival at 6.30 pm. Sudhindra will play veena and Machado guitar, joined by Anooru Anantha Krishna Sharma on mridangam, S N Narayana Murthy on ghatam, Joshua Costa on keyboards and Jeoraj George on drums. Their set draws from the ensemble’s albums *Clean Licks* and *Touch Another Life*, combining ragas with jazz and contemporary rhythmic arrangements.

The evening’s second presentation, *Dancing Tales... Panchatantra*, uses classical dance and theatre to retell five fables from the ancient story collection. Conceived and choreographed by Padma Shri Dr Ananda Shankar Jayant, it includes the hare and lion, the monkey and wedge, the cranes and tortoise, the crocodile and monkey, and the doves’ escape.

The programme begins at 6.30 pm at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.
