Carrefour opens its first India store in Greater Noida West

Carrefour’s first Indian store is now open at H&S Mall in Boulevard Walk, Greater Noida West, bringing the French retailer back to the country after it exited in 2014.

The 50,000sqft flagship began operations on August 15, followed by an official launch ceremony on Thursday. It has more than 15,000 stock keeping units, spanning fresh produce, groceries, bakery items, household essentials and personal care products. The range includes both international products and locally sourced goods.

Carrefour has entered through a partnership with the Dubai-based Apparel Group and plans a multi-format, omnichannel network in India. Nilesh Ved, chairman of APPCORP Holding, which owns Apparel Group, said the Noida region was selected for its young population and consumer spending potential; he said a second location could also be in the region.

For Amaliya Kumar, who moved to Noida from Taiwan, the opening brings back a familiar store. “This is my fourth time here, and they have great discounts, especially on kids’ items,” she said.

The launch adds another international retail destination to Greater Noida West’s expanding shopping corridor.
