CheQ Mumba Masters players attend Bengaluru event before league opener

Grandmasters Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Harika Dronavalli and Bardiya Daneshvar attended a CheQ Mumba Masters welcome event at CheQ’s new Bengaluru headquarters ahead of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League.

Team captain Surya Sekhar Ganguly joined the players, along with U Mumba CEO Suhail Chandhok and ChessBase co-founder Sagar Shah. CheQ founder and CEO Aditya Soni hosted a question-and-answer session that included the players’ accounts of past matches, followed by a casual chess game.

CheQ is the team’s title partner for the season. Chandhok said the franchise was targeting its first Global Chess League championship, while Soni said the partnership would extend beyond the tournament.

CheQ and the team management also discussed digital campaigns, fan engagement and on-ground activations for the season. The league’s fourth-season opener in Bengaluru is scheduled for September 5.
