Christ University may advance backlog exams for 13 Ghaziabad law students

Thirteen law students at Christ University’s Ghaziabad campus may get an earlier chance to clear pending papers after a three-day protest over their promotion to fourth year.

The university said it would discuss advancing supplementary examinations with its examination committee, rather than waiting for its usual November schedule. It also said doubt-clearing classes and library access would be arranged for the students. New exam dates have not been announced.

ABVP began protesting on August 21, seeking promotion for the students, who had backlogs from their first and second years. The university said some had failed papers in both years, while others had six to eight papers pending, and maintained that its promotion rules apply across all six campuses.

On August 22, the university complained to Nandgram police station, alleging trespass, vandalism, disruption and assault on women security staff during the protest. ABVP supporters had staged a sit-in outside the main gate. ACP Ziauddin Ahmad said no FIR was registered after the university and protesters reached a settlement on Sunday night.

The examination committee is expected to decide whether the supplementary tests can be brought forward.
