CID inspects Devanahalli resort in alleged KPSC exam leak probe

CID officers on Saturday conducted a mahazar, or formal evidence-recording inspection, at a resort in Devanahalli in the investigation into the alleged KPSC veterinary officers’ examination scam.

A senior CID officer said investigators found indications that some candidates linked to the case were trained at the resort. The agency suspects candidates who secured high marks stayed there for nearly a week and were trained using a question paper that was allegedly leaked before the examination.

The Enforcement Directorate had earlier searched the same premises in its own investigation.

The CID is also examining the bank accounts of suspended IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar and Basavaraj Kannale, whom investigators suspect of having a key role in the case. The agency is scrutinising financial transactions between them.

CID officials said several accounts linked to Kannale and his associates at a cooperative bank have been frozen, and cash worth lakhs of rupees has been seized. The KPSC office was also searched again in August as part of the recruitment investigation.
