CIDCO and Ulwe police clear unauthorised markets in four Ulwe sectors

Handcarts and materials blocking public roads and footpaths were removed from four Ulwe sectors during a three-day drive by CIDCO and Ulwe police.

The action, carried out from August 29 to 31, covered Sectors 9, 17, 20 and 21. CIDCO said it targeted unauthorised weekly markets, roadside businesses and other encroachments that were affecting pedestrian and vehicle movement.

CIDCO Chief Controller Vishal Dhage said roads and footpaths are intended for vehicles and pedestrians and cannot be used for unauthorised commercial activity. The Chief Vigilance Officer ordered the drive, which Controller Amit Rajput led with CIDCO staff, security guards, Ulwe police personnel, workers and tempo operators.

CIDCO said it will continue joint action against unauthorised markets and encroachments in public spaces. It asked vendors not to conduct business on roads or footpaths without authorisation.
