CISF says it found gold paste, foreign currency at Mumbai airport

CISF personnel at Mumbai airport said they found 430 grams of gold paste, valued at about ₹60.91 lakh, concealed in the stitched lower portions of a Jodhpur-bound passenger’s jeans.

The passenger had arrived from Dubai earlier the same day, CISF said. Officers detected the paste during frisking at the domestic-departure security check and handed the passenger and the gold to Customs for legal action.

In two separate international-departure checks, CISF said it recovered foreign currency worth about ₹72.22 lakh. A woman travelling to Dubai was carrying USD 45,000, including USD 30,000 taped around her knees and USD 15,000 in hand baggage. CISF valued the currency at about ₹42.82 lakh.

Another woman travelling to Ras Al-Khaimah was found with USD 30,000 and 3,800 UAE dirham in her hand baggage, valued at about ₹29.40 lakh. CISF handed both passengers and the currency to Customs’ Air Intelligence Unit for further action.
