CJP activist alleges stone-pelting at her home after Swatantra Bhardwaj’s arrest

A minor CJP activist has alleged that people surrounded her home and threw stones and bricks at it on Saturday night, hours after the arrest of social media influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj.

In videos shared on X, the activist appealed to Delhi and Ghaziabad police for security for her family. “What if something happens to my parents? Who will be held responsible for that?” she said in one video. She alleged that those outside the residence were associated with the BJP.

NSUI national president Vinod Jakhar visited the family and criticised police over what he described as delayed action in the earlier assault case. His claims have not been independently established.

Bhardwaj was detained by the Delhi Police Crime Branch in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday and brought to Delhi. Police have alleged that he and another man, Suraj, were involved in an attack on the activist’s father during CJP protests at Jantar Mantar. He was detained after the protest assault allegation and later remanded to one day of police custody by a special court under the SC-ST Act at Patiala House.

The matter was expected to be heard further on Sunday.
