CJP calls September 5 India Gate protest over student FIR demands

CJP has called supporters to India Gate on September 5, saying compensation for students’ families, the withdrawal of FIRs and an assurance against further action against students remain pending.

The party is also seeking an apology from the Rapid Action Force and Delhi Police. It says protesters will march from India Gate to Delhi Police Headquarters.

CJP founder Abhijit Deepke said the September 5 mobilisation would be larger than the party’s earlier protest at Jantar Mantar. He said the group could begin an indefinite sit-in outside the police headquarters if FIRs registered against students are not withdrawn.

Delhi Police had earlier said that no permission had been sought for CJP’s planned march at India Gate.
