DDA launches digital system to monitor planted saplings

The Delhi Development Authority has launched a digital plantation monitoring system to track saplings planted under its plantation drive.

The system will monitor two key outcomes: whether planted saplings survive and how they grow over time. Plantation programmes can add green cover only when young plants are maintained after planting, making follow-up monitoring an important part of such efforts.

For Delhi NCR residents, the initiative could mean greater oversight of tree-planting work in areas managed by the DDA. Digital tracking may help the authority assess the performance of its plantation drive beyond the number of saplings put in the ground.

The DDA has not detailed the system’s public access, coverage area or implementation timeline.
