DDA plans temporary lighting at Signature View Apartments for CBI sampling

DDA plans to run temporary electrical cables and install lights across the 12 blocks of Signature View Apartments to support remaining CBI sampling before demolition and redevelopment.

The 336-flat complex was vacated before Diwali in October 2025, after its power and water connections were cut, said Amarendra Kumar Rakesh, president of the residents’ welfare association. Residents have since moved into rented homes and receive rent from the DDA. Rakesh said the amount has increased by 10% from the base rent offered in the first year.

The DDA said most samples for the investigation into alleged substandard construction have been collected and sent to Delhi Technological University for testing. About 340 more samples are needed to assess reinforcement quality. The proposed electrical work would bring supply from the pump house or meter room to the areas where samples are being collected.

A DDA official said demolition and debris removal could take four to five months after the required approvals are secured. Redevelopment is also subject to a Delhi High Court case concerning floor area ratio and the number of flats proposed at the site. Residents have opposed using additional FAR to add flats.
