DDA says it planted over 1 lakh saplings at 77 Delhi locations

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) said it planted more than 1 lakh saplings at 77 locations across Delhi during a one-day plantation drive on Friday.

The authority did not identify the individual sites or the species planted.

The longer-term impact of the exercise will depend on maintenance and sapling survival. Regular watering, protection and monitoring are important for newly planted saplings, particularly during Delhi’s hot and dry periods. If the saplings establish successfully, they could add to neighbourhood greenery and the city’s green cover.
