Deepak Mhaske takes over BJP’s social media unit from Amit Malviya

Deepak Mhaske will lead the BJP’s national social media department, taking over from Amit Malviya as the party revises its national team ahead of elections in several states.

Mhaske has been appointed social media convener. Priti Gandhi, Shivanand Dwivedi, Alok Bhatt and Arun Yadav will serve as co-conveners. Malviya, who had long handled the party’s IT and social-media operations, congratulated the incoming team and said he had worked closely with them over the past decade.

The party has separately given Anil Baluni responsibility for communications strategy as media coordinator. Ashish Usha Agarwal, Pradeep Bhandari and Siddharth Yadav have been named joint coordinators.

The wider national-team revision retains BL Santhosh as national general secretary (organisation), with Shivprakash and Saudan Singh appointed national joint general secretaries (organisation). Smriti Irani has been named a national general secretary with responsibility for Uttar Pradesh, while former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, Ram Madhav, Piyush Goyal and Baijayant Jay Panda have also received key responsibilities.
