Delhi adds 1,914 polling stations as booth voter cap falls to 1,200

Delhi will have 14,947 polling stations across its 70 assembly constituencies, up from 13,033, after the Election Commission reduced the maximum number of electors at each booth from 1,500 to 1,200.

The number of physical locations hosting booths has also increased, from 2,696 to 2,856. The changes form part of the special intensive revision of electoral rolls and are intended to ease crowding on polling day.

Some voters will be shifted from their earlier booths to adjacent or newly created stations. Their revised booth details, including the school, community centre or other building assigned, will be included in the electoral rolls, voter-information services and slips issued before polling.

South East Delhi added the most stations, rising from 1,239 to 1,564. North East Delhi rose from 1,585 to 1,829, while South Delhi increased from 1,124 to 1,367 and South West Delhi from 1,187 to 1,351. The exercise used an electorate of about 1.45 crore; the final figure will be known when the electoral rolls are published on November 4.
