Delhi approves ₹151.81 crore forensic lab in Sheikh Sarai

A ₹151.81 crore Regional Forensic Science Laboratory has been approved for Sheikh Sarai, with the Public Works Department given two years to build it.

The proposed facility will stand on a plot of about 6,300 square metres and have a built-up area of 18,300 square metres. It is planned as an integrated forensic facility for the Home Department and Delhi Police.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the laboratory is intended to meet a growing requirement for forensic investigation in criminal cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. The new laws have increased demand for forensic work, she said.

PWD has been assigned a two-year target to complete construction.
