Delhi government approves D4C cybercrime coordination centre

Delhi Police will get a cybercrime coordination unit after the Delhi government approved the Delhi Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, or D4C, for the National Capital Territory.

The government said D4C will serve as a composite nodal agency for Delhi Police, helping to prevent, detect and investigate cyber offences. It will support district police teams and specialised units.

Its remit includes coordination with central agencies, other states and Union Territories, regulators, financial institutions, telecom service providers and online intermediaries. D4C will also align its work with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the Union home ministry.

The government plans for D4C to operate a Digital Investigation Lab to assist investigating officers across Delhi. It identified cyber-enabled financial fraud, online harassment, crimes against women and children, ransomware, cyber sabotage, online radicalisation and public-order disruption among the threats the unit is expected to address.
