Delhi begins recruitment for 10,417 teachers and 613 special educators

Delhi has initiated recruitment for 10,417 teachers and 613 special educators, Education Minister Ashish Sood said at the Shikshak Mahakumbh-State Teachers Awards 2026 at Thyagaraj Stadium.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta honoured 118 educators at the event. The recipients included 20 heads of schools, 69 teachers from Directorate of Education and MCD schools, teachers from three CM Shri Schools, and librarians, special educators and sports teachers.

Gupta said the Delhi government had allocated Rs 19,148 crore to education for 2026-27. She also announced 170 language labs in government schools: 70 in CM Shri Schools and 100 in other government schools. The labs are intended to strengthen students’ communication skills.

Gupta asked teachers to help bring children outside the school system into mainstream education. She also spoke about teachers’ role in teaching cleanliness, environmental responsibility, discipline and child-safety awareness.

Sood said the appointments are intended to strengthen Delhi’s education system and improve learning outcomes under NEP 2020.
