Delhi BJP seeks police action over alleged doctored Tricolour image of Nitin Nabin
A Delhi BJP delegation has asked police to investigate social-media images it says falsely show party president Nitin Nabin holding the national flag upside down.
The complaint was submitted to Delhi Police Special Commissioner Devesh Srivastava after images circulated across X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp between August 14 and 16. The party has sought a case against those who created and shared the images, and submitted a fact-check video with its complaint.
Delhi BJP leaders have submitted a police complaint over social-media images that they say falsely depict party president Nitin Nabin holding the Tricolour upside down.
The delegation met Delhi Police Special Commissioner Devesh Srivastava on the directions of Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra. It sought an investigation and action against people responsible for creating and circulating the images.
The complaint says multiple fabricated or doctored images were shared on X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp between August 14 and 16. It alleges that the volume and pattern of posts point to a coordinated attempt to spread misinformation and create a false impression of how the national flag was displayed.
Malhotra accused Opposition parties of misusing social media and demanded that police register a case. The BJP said it also gave police a fact-check video along with the complaint.
Police action on the complaint has not been detailed.
