Delhi extends water-bill late fee waiver until March 31, 2027

A Delhi household with an old unpaid water bill now has until March 31, 2027, to settle the principal amount without paying the accumulated late payment surcharge.

The Delhi government has extended the Delhi Jal Board’s 100% LPSC waiver until March 31, 2027. The scheme applies to outstanding bills of domestic as well as non-domestic consumers, and is intended to help people whose dues have grown over time because of penalties.

Under the waiver, consumers must pay the principal bill amount; the full LPSC component is then removed. The scheme covers 14.09 lakh domestic consumers and 70,312 commercial consumers.

More than 5.2 lakh consumers have already used it. DJB has recovered Rs 815.84 crore in principal dues through these settlements and waived LPSC worth Rs 3,261 crore.

Water Minister Parvesh Verma called this the final extension, saying consumers should use the additional time to clear their principal dues.
