Delhi rain forecast: yellow alert for isolated heavy showers

Chhatarpur logged 35.5 mm of rain and Palam 31 mm between 8.30am and 5.30pm, while Safdarjung, Delhi’s base weather station, recorded no rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, forecasting light to moderate rain in parts of the city, with heavy rain possible at isolated locations. Light to moderate showers are expected on Thursday and Friday, while daytime temperatures are likely to remain around 32-34°C and 32-33°C respectively.

Delhi’s maximum temperature fell to 31.3°C, three degrees below normal and down from 36°C a day earlier. The minimum stood at 28°C, two degrees above normal.

Mahesh Palawat, vice-chairperson at Skymet, said shifting winds had increased moisture over the region and could sustain rain activity for the next few days. The monsoon normally withdraws around September 25.

Delhi’s AQI was 85, in the satisfactory category, compared with 113 a day earlier.
