Delhi hands appointment letters to 1,368 new government school teachers

Delhi government schools will receive 1,368 newly recruited teachers after Chief Minister Rekha Gupta handed them appointment letters at Bharat Mandapam on Thursday.

Gupta said the appointments were part of an effort to improve education, health and future opportunities for children in the city. She said the recruits would provide academic support, guidance and new opportunities to thousands of students while helping fill vacant posts in schools.

During visits to schools, Gupta said she had encountered gaps in teacher availability, including in science and music. In some cases, she said, a limited number of teachers were handling several classes.

Education Minister Ashish Sood said the aim was to ensure that schools have teachers where they are needed and specialist teachers where particular subjects require them. Principal Secretary for Education Dilraj Kaur also attended the ceremony.
