Delhi HC gives Lok Kalyan Marg jhuggi residents six weeks to relocate
About 350 residents of three jhuggi clusters near the Prime Minister’s residence have been directed to move to alternative accommodation in Savda Ghevra within six weeks.
The Delhi High Court has ordered residents of Bhai Ram Camp, Masjid Camp and DID Colony to vacate their homes near Lok Kalyan Marg. A court-appointed monitoring committee will oversee the rehabilitation process, which the bench said must protect residents’ right to live with dignity.

The Delhi High Court directed residents to vacate the three jhuggi clusters near the Prime Minister’s residence. A bench of Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia said the rehabilitation process must be meaningful and protect the right to live with dignity, part of the right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution.
The court set up a seven-member monitoring committee, headed by a retired judicial officer, to supervise the relocation and rehabilitation process.
