Delhi High Court seeks replies in Saurav Das privacy suit

Saurav Das has asked the Delhi High Court to stop the further publication of his residential details, saying they were circulated online alongside other personal information.

Justice Sachin Datta issued notices and summons to commentator Abhijit Iyer Mitra, X, Google and several media and legal platforms named in Das’s suit. The matter is listed for September 14, when the court will also consider Das’s request for interim relief.

Das, a spokesperson for the Cockroach Janta Party, seeks a permanent injunction against publishing or sharing his address, along with directions to remove videos and posts that allegedly disclose it. He has also sought damages for alleged violations of his privacy, dignity and security.

Senior advocate Akhil Sibal, appearing for Das, told the court that a person associated with an online portal entered Das’s rented residence without permission and recorded a video. X told the court that it had removed posts alleged to contain the address under its policy.

The court will consider Das’s request for interim protection on September 14.
