Delhi logged 17,619 late-night loudspeaker and DJ complaints in seven months

Delhi residents filed 17,619 complaints about loudspeakers and DJ systems operating between 10pm and 6am from January to July, making late-night amplified music the city’s most frequently reported noise issue.

The seven-month total of noise-pollution complaints reached 25,466, a 6.1% rise from 23,999 in the corresponding period of 2025. Adding daytime loudspeaker and DJ complaints takes the amplified-music tally to 21,093 — more than eight in 10 reports.

Other sources grew too. Complaints about 5 kVA generator sets used in residential areas at night rose from 338 to 513. Reports involving modified exhausts or silencers increased from 32 to 52, while firecracker complaints went from 200 to 273.

There was a decline in some categories: construction and marble-cutting complaints fell from 730 to 525, and reports of noise from religious places edged down from 217 to 203.

ERSS-112 received 23,151 complaints, or 91% of the total. Use of dedicated noise helplines fell to 1,462, while web-portal complaints declined to 853.
