Delhi logs 1,777 H1N1 cases this year as health ministers review response

Delhi has recorded 1,777 H1N1, or swine flu, cases so far this year, as city and Union health officials met on Friday to review the response.

Delhi health minister Pankaj Kumar Singh joined Union health minister J P Nadda and senior Union health ministry officials for the meeting. It follows an earlier review of Delhi’s H1N1 preparedness.

AAP’s Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj said people across the city, including school-going children, were reporting high fever, cough and flu-like symptoms. He urged the Delhi government to step up public-awareness efforts and ensure medicines are available at hospitals and dispensaries.

H1N1 can cause fever, cough, sore throat, headache, body aches and fatigue. Medical practitioners advise people with persistent high fever, breathing difficulty, chest pain, confusion or worsening symptoms to seek prompt medical attention.
