Delhi may see light rain on Thursday before a drier spell

Ayanagar logged 13.3 mm of rain between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Wednesday, while Safdarjung and Lodhi Road recorded only trace rainfall.

Delhi is likely to receive very light to light rain on Thursday, though no colour-coded weather warning has been issued. The forecast points to a largely dry run from Friday to September 1.

Safdarjung, Delhi’s base weather station, has received 354.1 mm of rain so far this August, against the month’s normal of 233.1 mm. Its monsoon-season total has reached 653.9 mm.

Wednesday’s maximum temperature was 33.8 degrees Celsius, near normal, while the minimum settled at 26.5 degrees Celsius. The heat index reached 42.8 degrees Celsius at 11.30am. Maximum temperatures are not expected to change significantly over the next seven days.

Delhi’s air quality improved marginally, with the AQI at 94, in the satisfactory category, compared with 101 a day earlier.
