Delhi-Mumbai Expressway’s Faridabad-bound carriageway opens for month-long trial

Motorists heading towards Faridabad can now enter a trial section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway from the Ring Road and DND Flyway near Sarai Kale Khan-Maharani Bagh.

The Faridabad-bound carriageway opened for a month-long trial on Friday. It runs through Jaitpur and Meethapur in south Delhi, and is intended to offer a route towards Faridabad and Jaipur while easing pressure on Mathura Road. Traffic police said the corridor could also help commuters from Noida and Ghaziabad avoid the congested Kalindi Kunj stretch.

The Delhi section is nearly 9km long, including about 7.5km of elevated road and a 140-metre structure over the Agra Canal. It has entry and exit points at Jaitpur and Meethapur, but these remain closed during the trial; only motorists travelling towards Faridabad and beyond are being directed onto the corridor.

Two traffic personnel are posted at the corridor’s zero point to guide vehicles. Motorists using the trial route have been asked to keep to 40kmph. The formal inauguration date has not been announced.
