Delhi-NCR rain forecast: thunderstorms and showers until August 19

Delhi-NCR is likely to receive widespread rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds from August 14, with intermittent heavy showers possible over the next several days.

The India Meteorological Department forecasts wet conditions across Delhi, Haryana and Punjab on August 14, with rain activity likely to continue until at least August 19. An active monsoon trough near the National Capital Region and a developing weather system over eastern India are expected to drive the spells.

Residents may face rain-related disruption during commutes and outdoor Independence Day events on August 15, when skies are expected to remain cloudy.

Delhi’s August rainfall total is 197.2 mm after the IMD corrected a data-entry error at the Safdarjung observatory. This is slightly below the normal August average of 226.8 mm.
