Delhi traffic diversions planned from September 10 for BRICS Summit

Nearly 4,800 traffic personnel are set to be deployed for the BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam on September 12 and 13, as foreign delegations begin arriving in Delhi from September 10.

Delhi Traffic Police plans diversions and possible short-notice road closures in central, south and southwest Delhi until delegations leave around September 14. Police have identified 22 diversion points and divided summit-linked areas into nine zones and 27 sectors for traffic management.

The proposed stay of the Egyptian delegation at a Saket hotel could add to traffic management requirements in south Delhi. Its motorcade would travel between south Delhi and central Delhi through stretches affected by infrastructure and road-repair work.

Nine other delegations are expected to stay in central Delhi hotels. Traffic police have suggested moving the Egyptian delegation to central Delhi, but the arrangement had not changed. Full-scale motorcade rehearsals are under way, and police plan to issue a comprehensive advisory before the summit.
