Delhi plans gateways at Kapashera, Arjangarh, Auchandi and Dhansa

Four Delhi border entry points — Kapashera, Arjangarh, Auchandi (Kharkhoda) and Dhansa — are planned for redevelopment as cultural gateways.

The Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) has allocated nearly ₹39.90 crore for the project: about ₹23.76 crore for civil work, ₹11.90 crore for electrical and mechanical work, and ₹4.24 crore for horticulture.

Plans for each site include 1,000 metres of redesigned footpaths, with 500 metres on each side of the entry point, along with work on the central road verge. The proposed features include public art, sculptures, national emblems, landscaping, lighting and wayfinding.

The four locations are to have different visual treatments. Kapashera is planned to have at least 30 sculptures or other art objects and four national emblems, while Dhansa is to have at least 20 art objects and three emblems. Arjangarh’s proposed design includes murals, floral sculptures, alphabet panels and sandstone figures.

Officials have set aside two months for preparatory work and six months for construction. Electrical and horticultural elements are to receive comprehensive maintenance for three years after completion.
