Delhi plans new IGDTUW campus at Narela Education Hub

A new campus for Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women is being planned at Narela Education Hub, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said at the university’s Prabodhan Induction Programme-2026 on Thursday.

Gupta said the proposed campus would allow the university to take in more students from Delhi and other parts of the country. “We want to make sure that not just 1,000 students, but a large number of students from across the country as well as Delhi can study here,” she said.

The event was attended by Lieutenant Governor and IGDTUW Chancellor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Education Minister Ashish Sood. A new lecture hall complex, equipped for teaching, interaction and knowledge exchange, was inaugurated on the existing campus.

IGDTUW has expanded courses in robotics, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and mathematics and computing. The university has also developed 75 surveillance drones for demonstration to Delhi Police under its NETRA-NAARI-NETRITVA initiative. The Delhi government has supported its Centre of Excellence for Advanced Drone Technology with around Rs 8 crore, officials said.

Sood also said the government was developing an Education City over around 160 acres and had approved a Rs 400-crore Startup and Incubation Policy.
