Delhi prepares Private Universities Bill to create route for eligible institutions

Delhi is preparing to table a Private Universities Bill that could create a formal legal pathway for eligible private institutions to become universities in the city.

Institutions that meet the eligibility requirements would be able to seek university status through this framework.

The government expects the policy to encourage academic and research investment. Nearby Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have already enacted laws governing private universities, providing regional precedents for Delhi’s planned framework.
