Delhi prepares traffic diversions for BRICS summit at Bharat Mandapam

Delhi Traffic Police are preparing traffic restrictions and diversions for the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, from September 11 to 14.

Around 26 heads of state and government are expected in the capital. Police have mapped VVIP routes linking Indira Gandhi International Airport, 10 hotels designated for visiting dignitaries and the summit venue. A traffic advisory covering restrictions, diversions and alternate routes has been sent for approval and publication.

Rehearsals could begin from September 1. Police have met navigation and cab-app representatives so route closures and diversions can be reflected in real time for commuters.

Delhi Traffic Police are also coordinating with the DMRC, DTC, Delhi Police’s public relations office, taxi operators and the National Zoological Park. They have asked NDMC, PWD, DMRC and other agencies to repair and restore roads along key routes before the summit.

Additional CP Traffic Dinesh Kumar Gupta said agencies were holding regular meetings to resolve pending issues. The detailed advisory is expected to set out the roads and timings affected.
