Schools in south Delhi and Rohini have issued precautions as families report prolonged fever and respiratory illness among children.

Tagore International School, Venkateshwar Global School and The Indian School have told parents not to send children to class if they have flu-like symptoms. Delhi has recorded 1,777 H1N1 cases this year, including 114 infections reported on August 20.

Tagore International School in south Delhi has asked parents to keep children home if they have a cold, cough, sore throat, fever, body ache or unusual fatigue.

The school advised families to take even mild symptoms seriously, saying infections can spread among classmates and teachers. It also recommended frequent handwashing or sanitiser use, avoiding touching the face with unwashed hands, and masks in crowded places.

Rohini’s Venkateshwar Global School issued similar guidance, listing fever, cough, runny nose, headache, fatigue and breathing difficulty among symptoms that should keep a child out of class. Principal Namita Singhal asked parents to seek medical advice and send children back only after full recovery, as advised by the treating doctor.

The Indian School in south Delhi has asked parents to notify it if a child is diagnosed with H1N1 so it can take precautions. The advisories follow a rise in respiratory infections in the capital; Delhi hospitals recently reported more H1N1 patients.
