Delhi seeks feedback on ₹407.5 crore startup policy

Delhi’s proposed Startup and Incubation Policy, 2026, would commit ₹407.5 crore over five years and support startups through 32 state-funded incubation centres.

At a consultation chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood, founders and investors called for faster approvals, startup-friendly workspaces, easier access to capital and a government role as an early customer for new companies. The draft proposes a single-window system so startups and incubators can deal with government agencies through one channel rather than multiple departments.

The government has also proposed a Fund of Funds, using public capital to attract private investment, along with dedicated funding for women founders. Focus sectors may include AI, fintech, agri-tech, defence and aerospace, deep tech, govtech, legal technology, edtech and medtech.

Sood said the policy’s target is to support over 10,000 startups and create employment opportunities for more than four lakh young people. Suggestions from the consultation will be consolidated into the final policy, alongside work on implementation, evaluation and industry participation.
