Delhi pollution awareness plan to run from September to March 2027

Delhi will begin a seven-month pollution-awareness programme in September 2026, with monthly sessions for vehicle owners, commercial operators, students and residents, and weekly drives by urban local bodies.

The programme follows directions from the Commission for Air Quality Management, which said staff in several agencies needed better briefing on their role in reducing pollution from conditions including potholed roads and garbage dumps.

The transport department and Delhi Traffic Police will hold one awareness activity each month for vehicle owners. Sessions will cover end-of-life vehicles, avoiding unnecessary idling, lane discipline, parking and timely servicing. The plan also calls for monthly meetings with transport associations, delivery firms, e-commerce entities and other commercial operators.

At active construction projects, workers will receive at least one monthly workshop or on-site demonstration on dust control, material handling and construction-and-demolition waste disposal. Road-owning agencies will attend seminars on scientific dust management, repairs and redevelopment.

Schools and colleges will run monthly programmes with the education department. Social-media campaigns and radio jingles are also scheduled through March 2027.
